Starting on the tarmac of Horsehold Road this climb provides an instant wall before heading onto a rough surfaced track that weaves up the woodland. Back Lane has some technical sections that may force some riders to put their foot down. With an average gradient of 8.1% and the steep sections featuring an 11% gradient this climb is hard (RED).

Hard climbs will feature a constant level of difficulty or feature a technically difficult section. Climbs of this nature are likely to feature terrain with a gradient between 5 and 10%. This type of climb will really challenge new cyclists and require regular cyclists to increase their efforts to successfully complete this type of climb.
