Outlane to Buckstones

This climb follows the A640 from Outlane to the areas local high point at Buckstones. Offering 5 miles of climbing with an average gradient of 2.1% this climb on paper doesn’t seem that difficult. The weather especially the easterly wind can provide the biggest challenge. Complete this climb on a good day and the views from the car park at Buckstones are spectacular. Climb status hard (Red) and (Cat 3) graded more on the weather and distance than the difficulty.

Climbs of this nature are likely to feature terrain with a gradient between 5 and 10%.This type of climb will really challenge new cyclists and require regular cyclists to increase their efforts to successfully complete this type of climb.The majority of the climbs in the Calderdale area are hard – Red.
